DAY of "What an amazing venue! " Red Rocks, Denver, CO.
indeed, the most amazing, majestic venue! the photos do not do it justice!
there is history here, used to be a sacred, Indian ceremonial grounds that the
'mericans managed to finesse away from the Indian Nation (sound familiar?)
one of the things i am NOT proud of.. we should have left it alone..
really, truly i am going to post more photos.. the lack of a high speed internet connection
combined with the amount of time it takes to crunch the pix , well, you get the picture.

so here we were (it really is the 24th as i write this) in this awesome space,
built for Classical music and we had a Reggae show.
there was almost enough PA, could have used more to be sure.
and the mix position ended up in the WRONG, WRONG place. there is a pillbox for
a movie projector located about 20 rows up and centered.
it is a bass cavity! it howls! it should be fixed!
the mixing operation involved constant walking out and to the side to get out
of the nasty spot, back to the console, make changes, out again, etc..

in retrospect, the wind was hellish, scrambled to get all the mics filtered
to rid us of the waffeling, buffeting sounds of mother nature!
i try to NOT loose any colour from any mic, the sounds should be pure and as realistic
as possible. i do enhance a little. but to be forced to irradicate everything in all
the mics below 150 hz is really awful. ok, i can synthesize the low end,
and for some things it is ok. others NOT!

Toots managed to spend most of the show IN FRONT OF THE MONITOR LINE and
as close to the audience as possible.
guess i did ok, he said it was the best show yet! (cool.)

tomorrow is a 6ish hour drive to Albuquerque, leave the hotel around 11AM.
