DAY who-knows-what, New York City
Babba Ganouj, made correctly , fresh and weather it is spelled right or not, is a wonderful thing!
alas, it is gone.... and the better part of two pitas.... and it is only 6pm.
did i mention the Red Stripe chaser that is going with it?? yes, there. i did!
we taped for the McEnrow show tonight.. rather we taped today.
the lobby call was 7:30 AM ..after 3 hours sleep..and the 1.5 hours winding down..
and the hour-b-4-call wake up... we got into the hotel at 2:00am,
after changing busses due to OUR bus having generator failure
when we were out at Wolftrap.
i regress...
the CNBC thing was cool... long, but cool..
their call was 10;00 AM , 40 minute ride to the studios,
sit around till noon, sound check, sit around untill 1:30 or so
and tape the segment, and go back to the hotel.
this is a day off.
the "Jenny"... was causing concern on the way INTO Wolftrap..
browning out, quitting...but the gig went ok.
we ended up changing busses just before the GW Bridge,
everything out, everything into the new bus.
everything.
A baker's dozen of people and all their crap...
got to meet the new, un-road-tested Yamaha PM5-DHA today, well, yesterday.
interesting, but i am not sold.
too many oddities for a gen , what , 4 console???
the gain structure is soo Yamaha, you hit peak lights between a side-stick and full snare.
i mean, to get a good , cracking side stick , and then the full open snare , well, the desk
is not what i imagined.

the dynamics are ok, but not great. the routing is a bit cumbersome too..
my biggest bitch is that when, in our case, you are looking at the 1/3 oct eq
inserted on the stereo mix, it is 1- one slaved stereo eq for both r and l
and the DCA faders will not remember that the last thing you did was to look at the graphic!
in short, you need to go thru 3 button presses and a mouse move and click to view and edit the eq
at the DCA position if you have looked at something else AFTER the EQ.
get it? (ok, it is a bit obscure to be sure... tech heads, look out!)
that aside, it navigates ok, still miss a full set-o-knobs per channel , like the Recall!
and it selectively DROPS things too...at least it did day one, and day 5 ....
