DAY off...

it is called "Duppie-Vision!"
the practice of watching "B" horror films on the long hauls. the worse the better..
the bloodier the better.
the sound system is pretty good in the front lounge.. the thuds are, well, you can feel them just fine, the screams are piercing... you get the picture. the group of us watching last night's first offering let out such a startled shreek that Marcus, our driver asked if anyone was hurt! this stuff is a laugh a minute!
Leba, one of our singers, is the root of these viewings. she loves duppie films. as we got into Steven King's SLEEPWALKERS she said that she wanted hot chocolate. others chimed in and popcorn was mentioned too.
Marcus found us an offramp and a truck stop without anyone knowing until we started slowing down! this man is awesome..
(he even plays the drums, sometimes helps me out at soundcheck too!)
the gang stayed up for three films.
do not be confused into thinking we ONLY watch this crap..noooo!
the Olympics were a universal focus as is "Law and Order". we even watch such true jems as "The Temptations"
never a dull moment.
nope!
a day off... these are rare and are always spent differently..
today, well, got into the hotel at 6ish AM, checked e-mail and puttered about the internet till 8ish.
slept till 5, wandered around GR looking for food...
found the town REALLY QUIET , almost deserted.. wish i had brought my camera with me..didn't want the bulk on my hips today...
found a Friday's, went in, got seated and waited 10 minutes while 2 servers were going past me over and over again. i was out on the patio, there were 12 tables, 11 with people and the wait staff was going past every minute or so without even asking if i was there for dinner. did speak to the manager, voiced my displeasure with being ignored and walked out. never again ... i never really liked Friday's but it was convenient , or at least i thought so...never again.
the good news is "Z's Bar and Restaurant"!
quick service, good food, pleasant staff and inexpensive too!
on the way out, Andy, our rhythm guitar player walked in.. stayed thru his dinner and exchanged storys. he's a good egg. they all are.
back into the hotel and onto the 'poo to write tour updates and check mail.
you know, we get creative out here.. i got hungry around 10PM and had a pack of Thai noodles and no microwave or stove... hmmm, think, what to do??? there IS a way to heat water in most hotel rooms..
can you guess??
yes, MR Coffee also works for noodles. brew in the carafe, stays warm, rockin!
