Day after misspelling Pittsfield and a day off...   Cleveland, OH
Here we go again!

IF you look hard enough, and cleverly enough
you can inevitably find the hidden AC outlets in the catering tents.
and if you have the time to kill, you can make use of the power for your laptop!

now, if you are really crafty and determined it is almost possible to
tune out the diesel generator noise that is playing havoc with an otherwise
peaceful and quite beautiful day on the river here in Cleveland.
moderate clouds, clear sky otherwise.
however,it seems as though our noisy companion is not always running.. i have been told
that this is the exception. funny thing is it has been running very constantly
since 11:30 am or so(when i arrived) at a constant level.
and if the wind shifts just right you can smell it too!
looks like some form of sewage pump... joy! from the catering tent
(which, btw, is really nice, flowers all around, fenced in with shrubberys(?)
(nice ones, not too expensive either!)) you can see a snout going into the river...

??wonder if it is putting in or taking out...??yeesh!

imagine if you will, the cleveland municipal river sewage project. for a small contribution you, the general public,
can have your very own flask of deep river water, pulled right out of our very own river.
all the colour and smell, every drop teeming with questionable life...
or the other scenario...
lady's and gents... for your sick amusement , we, the elders of cleveland, have found a truly devious scheme to rid our fair city
of a large quantity of nasty sewage. through the efforts of some of cleveland's top civil engineers and contractors we are now able to send our
raw sewage, quite undetected, to our friends in Akron! $250 will place 10% of your household waste in the que for stealthy delivery ,
to our sister city of Akron.
i have too much time on my hands today!

the river is another story. unusually brown, a veritable cornucopia of floating
debris including a rather large, dead, fly covered phish!

it is now 3:20 and there is "usual " noise coming from the PA system.
sound checks and so on..
i have seen, for the first time, an odd configuration of the stacking of the subs.
the bottom one fires towards the stage while the other two in each stack
fire out into the audience.
the justification:
the bottom one is configured to be out of phase and is supposed to help cancel the
LF shit heard on stage, sort of forcing the LF energy into a cardioid pattern...
from back here in catering the LF energy is annoying. thought about going out on
stage and listening... eh.. hard to tell now.. will go during the show.

spent the better part of yesterday wandering around downtown Cleveland..
it is very difficult, i have found, to get anyone you run into , whether it is
a merchant or a "clevelander" you meet on the street, to get coherent directions
to either a "music" store (you know, like a guitar center sort of thing) or an
office supply store (office depot strain of life). there is also the lack of
the knowledge that a CVS(?) will have rudimentary office supplies.
my noisy friend has just slid into an idle! and not ten minutes later, has shut down all together... yippie!

dinner was ok... mostly vegetarian (for a change! )
the gig was ok too... nicely flown VDOSC rig.. not much else to say really..

onward!

BACK!
